Hiking the Floriston Trail

Located just a short 20 minute drive west of Reno is the newly created raised trail by Floriston California. The scenic vistas of the Truckee River flow below.

This trail is an excellent place to bring your international friends in Reno to. Try late in the day or during sunset, and you'll enjoy the shade of the forest.

How to get there: Take I-80 West towards Truckee. Exit at the Floriston Exit. Park under the bridge. Follow the signs to the trail. This trail is a newly constructed boardwalk that follows along a lower ridge. If you simply want a short hike, follow the trail to the stairway. Go up the steps, and all the way to the freeway. If you want a longer hike, you can continue along the trail which follows along a ridge near the highway.

We chose to turn around and come back and see the views in a different light. The Truckee river canyon has beautiful views and plenty to see with the trains, river rafters and more.
When finished, dip your feet in the river by the bridge. This is a popular put-out spot for whitewater rafters.
